Ari Sääski, a Finnish naturalist, founded the company over 15 years ago. Today he continues to procure a unique and amazing experience for both wildlife watchers and photographers. Since its establishment, the area has hosted a very healthy population of European Brown Bear, as well as Wolverine and Wolf, all of which frequent the area to date.

Situated in the Kuhmo region of Finland, Wild Brown Bear Centre is located at the heart of the wilderness, in an area of land known as the Taiga forest. When staying at the Centre you will be sharing the area with a great diversity of flora and fauna, ranging from small migratory species right up to European Brown Bears - the giants of the forest!

Although geared mainly towards photography, the surrounding landscape is also ideal for hikers and trekkers, as there are numerous trails which can be enjoyed in the summer months. The Centre then provides the much needed R&R after exciting nights in the hides or long and beautiful walks into the wilderness.

Extra care and attention has been ensured to maintain and conserve the environment. Thus giving you a better and more natural experience, when photographing from the hides and enjoying the surrounding scenery.

The accommodation lodge is a former Russian-Finnish boarder control station. The second large cabin was built when the company started and now houses, the dining area, auditorium and meeting room that can be used by groups and workshops.
